What Started It All?

Rita Grew up in Queens County - quiet and a bit undeveloped at that time.  Her love of education eclipsed young when she  ran a “camp” for 3-5 year-olds and charged 25 cents an hour.

Early schooling included both public and parochial (an hour long trek that included a lengthy bus trip, two subway stops, and several blocks of walking).   The last one gave her great survival tactic ideas.

Graduated as a V-Bee from Martin Van Buren Hight School where she was a Gym Leader (no, not Cheerleader) and writer (cub) for the school newspaper (a highlight included interviewing Carole King).  Being in a class of about 800 students added another notch of survival tactics.

A Career She Just Loved.

Rita was is a 25 year teacher in New York City and Nassau County. Positions were multi-faceted: computer teacher, language arts coordinator, and testing coordinator.

As A Retiree.

A wife of over 40 years and mother to three great children, and grandmother to two beautiful girls. She volunteers weekly at the Veteran's Administration hospital and fundraises for charity frequently. During her spare time, she enjoys traveling, golfing, reading historical non-fiction, visiting Manhattan museums, and catching Broadway shows.
