What Started It All?
Rita Grew up in Queens County - quiet and a bit undeveloped at that time. Her love of education eclipsed young when she ran a “camp” for 3-5 year-olds and charged 25 cents an hour.
Early schooling included both public and parochial (an hour long trek that included a lengthy bus trip, two subway stops, and several blocks of walking). The last one gave her great survival tactic ideas.
Graduated as a V-Bee from Martin Van Buren Hight School where she was a Gym Leader (no, not Cheerleader) and writer (cub) for the school newspaper (a highlight included interviewing Carole King). Being in a class of about 800 students added another notch of survival tactics.
A Career She Just Loved.
Rita was is a 25 year teacher in New York City and Nassau County. Positions were multi-faceted: computer teacher, language arts coordinator, and testing coordinator.
